gauge question, stock shiftlight and gauge cluster wire mapping
ok, the stock shiftlight, bulb works, how come it never lights?
and has anyone ever mapped the wires on the flat thing behind our gauge clusters? i need to know witch ones are witch for my new setup
heres what i have so far:
every one of the gauges has three screws connected to it besides mounting screws labled "e" "ig" and "u". exept for the tach it has "e" "ig" and "(-)"
top connecter (connecter 2 as labled on unit)
2-01 Goes to Brake light only
2-02 goes to oil (screw labled "e") and coolent(screw labled "e") guages and lights.
2-03 goes to alot of lights and connects to 1-03 prong.
2-04, 2-05, 2-06, empty.
2-07 left signal light
2-08 brigths light
2-09 right signal
2-10 goes to "u" screw on fuel guage
2-11 to an empty light that would be above the seatbelt light
2-13 ses light
2-14 shift light
bottom conecter (1 as labled on unit)
1-01 screw labled (-) on tach
1-02 goes to "e" screws on tach speedo and to some lights
1-03 connects to 2-03
1-04 goes to what would be a choke light.
1-05 goes to the "u" on the coolent gauge
1-06 goes to empty light
1-08 "u" screw on oil guage
1-09 "IG" screw on gas oil and some lights
1-10 empty
1-11 empty
1-12 goes to "e" screw on on oil and h20 and to ligths
1-13 seat belt light
1-14 goes to "s" on speedo.
if anyone could provide more light on this that would be super!

ok, differences between the 86 & 88 pin outs:
1) You fogot 2-12 & 1-07, not used anyway
2) 2-02, I have as 12V+
3) 86 1-04 you have for choke, 88 is for security ( neither one used most likely )
4) 1-12, 1-03, & 2-03 I have as ground/negative
now for 85 & 86:
I'll list the same wire pins/positions:
Top connector-
1) 2-05 & 5
2) 2-11 & 12
Bottom connector-
1)2-07 & 7
That's it. Everything else is relocated between teh two connectors.

very good diagram of the 86 cluster, basically the same as the 88 I'm using. Props to Trickster for the link
