Copper Head Gaskets?
Who makes them/ who sells them- I'm talking good quality- Looking for a copper head gasket .040-.045 thick. perferably if made, I need a .041 to be specific.

call summit racing and ask about custom copper gaskets...
when i was making my first 400, i had small chamber heads and a shortblock with flattops... so when i asked them, they gave me a number (it was SCE i THINK... i may be wrong) and i called and they worked out what i was looking for.

Thank you MrDude but (Not thrying to sound like I'm being an ***) I was asking a tech question to a tech board- If I wanted to call summit, I would ask them.
I would like to know from maybe someone who has actual info or who has bought on for a V6 specifically- I don't have alot of research material on the speciallty little items and options of the 60*V6.
Hoping someone like 614 would know- You seem to have alot of knowledge and references that I don't, and/or can not find on the internet. example: Like the Bob McCray that is a 60*v6 specialist- I had never heard of him
I am presently trying to aquire all resources and options in existence before I commit to a buildup sheet- an most of all , custom ordering parts.

these are the ones i got.
They match the block PERFECTLY. (exept the cylinder holes are a little oversized just incase you had you block bored out)

He is a very nice person, we had like a 2 hour talk about how the 2.8 engine likes boost and what are the main bottlenecks of the motor. He has built several hi power motors, including 1000hp+ Supra engines in the $26k range (for the engine alone), and several turbocharged 2.8's, so he has alot of experience on the subject.

Question to any in the know (don't think its worthy of a new post topic thought.
Has anyone ever pulled a 3.4 out of a 4th gen? Is it basically as easy as a 3rd gen or is things tighter? Reason I ask is- I got a kid local to me that totaled the rearend of his car and will part the entire motor to me for $100- catch is, I have to go over and pull it at his house-I willing to bet its sitting in a carport ar even the street. Want to make sure its not a royal pain in the rear- If it where in my garage I'd say no problem- I have my tools, jacks, hoist and compressor here.(+ a place to wash up- I'm sure the car will be a greasy mess)

I think what your looking for is www.cometic.com They make custom head gaskets and supply alot of gakets to the nascar guys. I use them in my motor and they are by far superior to the standard copper gaskets sold thru speed shops.

Seriously, if it's an auto, it's easy as pie. Unhook all engine electronics, pull the radiator (just so you don't FUBAR it), undo the tc bolts from the flexplate, undo the 2 motor mount bolts, and swing her forward, and up, with a cherry picker. It's a little tighter, but not bad, as longas you d/c all the electronic wiring as you go.
Don't forget to undo the exhaust! PB Blaster is your friend!

Eh I read this one late, looks like lee 7 has it covered, one thing though, on my 355 I built it up with flat out copper gaskets, it has a special silicone coating for street engines. copper gaskets leak on the street most of the time but the flat out gaskets have a high tech coating process. www.flatoutgaskets.com

Why copper???? Is there something wrong with the stamped steel that is popular with V8 builders???
On pulling that engine, I wouldn't both with the TC bolts. With the Rad out of the way it should pull right out of the tranny. Then unbolt it. I hate crawling under cars.

Why copper? because if your sh*t is machined correctly, they will last forever.Copper disperses heat better than steel- helps with predetonation (very slight- but slight counts)I am also working on getting my rod assemblies (Rod & bolts, piston, rings and pin) under 1100 grams each. I'm looking to spin 8000 rpms and want at least .040 because of the higher r's and longevity. I want it to last.

Well Agood, 4th gens are a PITA. Not somthing I wish to do again anytime soon. Even if you have a rack avalible PITA, unless you were to torch the 3.4 out. Oh BTW (general comment) They can be pulled from the top but I wouldent reccomend it.

The v8 guys do go from the bottom. On the 6cyl, I think between pulling rad, intake, hood, you could prob do from the top.

Yea the top trick is to pull the tranny of course remove the radiator, consenser, hood then chain the front of the engine and slide forward back falls down front comes up and out, count the broken and scrached peices. But yea if the guy is trashing the car just torch the bumper off or even better air chissel the nose off. Either way releases tension and is fun.
