help me spend $$$

lol sorry about that

ok i've been searching for days now but still have no real idea what i'm looking at i'm looking fro more power form my 3.1
yes i'm keeping the 6 and no i don't want to swap in an 8
anyway i'm trying to figure out what i should really do next
i've got about 2 grand to blow so i was thinking about
(as many of you have said)

timing chain, cam, lifters, rockers, ignition, coil, etc etc etc..........

but there are just so many different parts out there
how does a person chose i mean i know it's only a 3.1 and most of you will say to toss in a 8 but if i had wanted to do that i would have just pick up and 8 instead of the 6.........

so i guess i just need help picking out parts i've called summit and jeg's and got the run around all i'm looking for is info what parts will work best with my engine i want as much as i can get out of her with out killing her or myself in the process you know what i mean ..........

well thats it for now
thanks for reading this all this and
for any help you can provide

Sounds good between yourself, and agood.

If you have more, go ahead and drop in 3.4 under them heads.

Or toss a few this way for the "assistance"

yes am looking at a new 62mm TB and a venom chip

i got rid of the stock air intake and threw in 2 bilge blower fans on a full throttle switch, but since my car has been wreck, i felt differences

did u know if you pull off the front ground spoiler, I could only hit 90 mph!! when i got all my parts back and put it back on, i was glad that i could hit 120+ again

but its in the shop now getting paint!

and im taking her to Ennis to see my time improvements with the new AI

hopefully lower then a 17.7@75 now

i was just wonderinf about all these parts agood2.8 listed, i havent done none of those.....

Here's my suggestion: Go buy a 3.4 liter engine out of a 93-95 F-body car. Then get the Supersix heads and an even bigger cam than the one in the 3.4, and put it in along with a new timing set. Get the headers and intake stuff, and then swap it all in at one time. You will have the advantage of the 3.4 liter block, better heads, headers, intake, roller rockers, etc... and your car won't be down for very long either.

If you wanted to cut back the costs some, then don't get the supersix heads, but do the 3.4 swap and put another cam and timing set on it, along with the 1.6:1 ratio rockers and the fiero valve covers.

What is being suggested is to remove your current engine & upgrade to a 3.4 V-6 from a 1993-1995 F Body.
Add several or all items from agood2.8 shopping list.
You're good to go.
I should know as I've done the 2.8/3.1 Long Block Swap Boogie! Twice!
Where ya find 3.4 is several choices,
Local yellow Pages wrecking yards
Internet ebay
OR local GM Dealer.
Tell him you want to buy a 3.4 crate engine.
That'll set ya back the $1700+ easy.
Add fuel injectors from a 3.4 powered ride
Insist the necessary gasket set be tossed in by GM dealer from where you buy the 3.4 crate engine..
Do a serch for my tech thread about how to swap in a 3.4 V-6.
Go have fun!
This pic is from my 1985 FIrebird powered by a 1995 Camaro 3.4, dressed to look exactly like my 1985 2.8 for CA smog purposes. Works just fine.

I tend to agree with the 3.4 swap but here's my thought- since you still have life in your 3.1, then build it and run it till she wears out, then you can always swap the performance parts onto a 3.4 motor at that point.

Check out the "sticky" at the top of the V6 forum, I posted several good links there a few days back (bottom of the page- my second post, not first.)https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=171305
