It should sound just like mine, maybe a even a little more aggresive. I never replaced my stock cat.

A custom Y-Pipe is a great idea, and worth it i think. But it's $$$

As for the custom bending of the exhaust. A shop where I lived mandrel bent stainless steel pipes (NOT ALUMINUM) and welded them in place for about $315.00. Putting a Cat on isn't going to add much work to the process, but the y-pipe will.

#66-21502 will work, but that has ONE inlet & ONE outlet. So no dual tail pipes for you. Our stock setups have ONE inlet and TWO outlets. That's why you want #21721.

NOW, it SHOULD have ONE 2.5" in and TWO 2.25" out. I don't know why Thunder Racing is showing it as a 2.75" in. I think that is a typo. Check first, but mine cost about 80.00 from Summit, so 90.00 isn't far off. I wouldn't buy #21502.

HOK-21721 @ www.summitracing.com for 80.00

That's the exact one I ordered, and a better price than Thunder Racing.

How long do dynomax mufflers last as far as rusting out?? Do they sound the same as stock if I had outlet pipes bent to match stock tips and bends.

Smog police always b*tching when they see any holes any where on the exhaust.

I guess I will find out soon! I got some long tube headers off a 2.8 junkyard Bird for $15.00. Muffler shop checked them out and he's hesitant, but I told him they came off a 3rd gen, so they should be able to go on mine... Once we get the truck running so i can drive it everyday, we will get those headers on...I can't wait! Then we will see how it sounds!

Check out Ravine muffers at Midas. The sound, quality, performance, and price is pretty competitive to Hookers or Magnaflows.

Yep, I did indeed. I would never have believed it myself! I had no clue anyone ever made them. I thought headers for 2.8s never existed outside of the guys on the v-6 board making some. And the fact that they are long tube headers blows my mind! But we got them off a 3rd gen bird at Pull-a-part. They were welded in. We believe this is why they were still there. We had to buy a hack saw and some blades adn cut them off at the cat. We have to get the muffler shop to make a decent y-pipe with flanges for the headers. Then add flanges to the headers. I got some pics of them this weekend. I plan to get the roll developed in the next few days & I will post the pics!
