First things first....
Do a search on the trans board for the B&M shift kit. Many of the pros do not like it and believe it leads to premature trans failure. The trans kit that is recommended is a Trans Go kit. It costs more but you get what you pay for.
Any competent trans shop in your area will be able to do it. I am not sure what it costs. ASK AROUND FOR A GOOD SHOP IN YOUR AREA!!! The trans rebuilding industry is full of crooks looking to make a fast buck. Check your local BBB. The trans shopof your choice should be a member.

I asked around MANY places on the best tranny shop, 95% recommended the place I went. I doubt I will be going back. I am not pleased.
Car was over a week late, trans mount was not installed properly, and 2 months later was leaking fluid from a hose.
However, they did swap my freeze plugs, and rear main seal.

If you can do a tuneup, you can do a shift kit. I put the B&M kit in myself, way before I knew about how bad it was. The shift kit wasn't that bad at all. I think you even get a how-to video with the Transgo kit!
Oh and a shift kit shouldn't be installed in any trans that's on it's last few miles of life... if your fluid's brown and burnt smelling, or the tranny shifts funny, don't go throwing a shift kit in!

for all intents and purposes, all a shift kit is, is modifications to the valve body to manipulate the trans to shift harder and quicker, by applying fluid with more pressure to the clutch packs and servo
harder pressure= harder/quicker apply= more wear on hard parts
also, the cops arent gonna like seeing you chirping tires between gears
