My Gas Mileage is 25mpg what is yours?
I went to a show in AL the other weekend. Well because of some work we did on the car I had noted the mileage before we left. Now we knew the balancer is all wack. Got a new one now, just have to get the others cars going so we can install it. Well anyway I filled the car all the way and the mileage was reading was 012. Now we go to AL and come back. I'm running 70-75 with the group the whole way thre and back. I stop to get gas before I get home. Mileage 326...filled it all the way it took 12.5 gals. So I went about 314-315 miles on 12.5 gals. I did the math and the car got 25mpg. Wow it has never gotten that good of mileage.
What do you guys typically get on hwy driving? I used to get 17 or less before the work we did. That and & realizing the balancer was off, we increased the timing. Balancer says i'm running 20 degrees. Oh I can't wait to get the new one on!

A '92 3.1l would get ~ 26.5 MPG at a steady 75 MPH. That is what the factory EPA(?) sticker rating is too.
So you did good at 25 MPG redraif.
RBob.

Jesse, when was last time you did a tune up??
What mods do you have?
Chang O2 sensor, might have dirty injectors, timing wrong, EGR valve going bad, Dirty air cleaner, bad alignment, under inflated tires, Many a things can cause bad mpg.

I've got a leaking injector and a heavy foot... those are my problems! That and the fact that all my driving is in traffic... I haven't seen a highway in a while... (sigh)

back with the 2.8l i pulled off 21 MPG in the city, with the occasional peddling and racing... sigh... miss those days.
with the 3.4 i waste more gas. but ever since i put in my new intake i've been doing better
2.8L on a full pulled off estimate 260-270 miles
my 3.4 i think pulls off a 230-240 maybe better
i don't know yet.
and i still plan on getting MSD equipment and headers.

i knew i had a problem cause earlier my friends brother asked to hear my car. So I revved it and he said wait do that again. He then pointed out how my exhaust pops and said something about a smell. He said the smell was my car running too rich of a fuel mixture. So my guess is o2 sensor. How hard is a o2 sensor too replace and whats it normally run?

I normally get 23 city 25-28 highway, but down here in Southern Illinois, there are so many hills and bumps and such that I can literally coast half a mile without touching the pedal. I just let momentum carry me forward. Of course I can only achieve a long coast at 40 mph. I bet I am the only one here who drives 40mph on a country road. Anyways, my point of the coasting is that it can add as much as 5-7 mpg to the city/hiway milage. My car has had 5 tuneups and 4 oil changes in the past 3 months. I had a lot of repairs in that time frame.
