tire size for 90 camaro rims?
Looking for snow tires, and found some 90 camaro (7x15 he said) rims for sale. Currently using stock 89 firebird sized rims with 215 65 R15 tires.
will the same size tires work or do I need a different size for those rims. trying to get the same outside diameter.

Same tires will work. I have 215/65/15's on my 15x7" '88 Camaro Rims. As long as those are 15" rims, they'll work.

Maybe I should have mentioned it before...I'm pretty stupid when it comes to tires. let me know if I got this right:
the 225 or 215 refers to the outside diameter
60/65 is the width at the widest part or the rim?
and 15 means 15in. rim diameter
Am I close?

I dont think this will be right but if i remeber correctly 215 would be the with of the tire tred left to right of the tred i belive its in milimiters i think thats wrong tho and the 65 is the hight of the tire basicly from the rim to the top of the tire and 15 is for the size of the rim.

225 is the width the 60 is the height if you had lets say a 225 45 15 the hight would be allot lower then a 60.

The breakdown, as I've posted before:
Example Tire: P225/60r15
P = Passenger Tire (as opposed to Light Truck tire or others)
225 = Section width, in millimeters.
60 = Aspect Ratio, percentage
r = Radial. Sometimes combined with speed rating (SR, ZR, etc)
15 = rim size
225 divided by 25 = tire width in inches. Ex, 225/25=9.0 inches
Aspect ratio the height of the sidewall, measured as a percentage of the section width. What's this mean? Well, lets get the width of the tire, in inches. 225/25 = 9.0 inches. Multiply that by the aspect ratio. 9.0 times 60 is 540. Now divide that by 100, since aspect ratio is a percentage. 540/100 = 5.4 inches.
So now we know that the sidewall is 5.4 inches tall. A tire has two sidewalls- a top sidewall (between top of wheel and bottom of fender) and a bottom sidewall (between the ground and bottom of wheel). So multiply the sidewall height by two. We get 5.4 times 2 which equals 10.8. Now, add in the rim height of 15. 10.8+15 = 25.8 tire height!!
So "quickly":
(Section width / 25) = tire width in inches
(Section width / 25) * (Aspect ratio) / (100) * 2 + (rim height) = tire height.
Sound good?

Yes Tom is 100% correct. I am the tire specialist at pep boys. your 225 is the width n such. As long as it says 15 at the end it soulh fit on those rims.
Pep boys actually sent me to a special training day to learn all about tires. Theres tires are called Futura wich are actually made by cooper. good grip and good price, although im still a goodrich fan.
Im not sure how wide you can get away with up front though? has anyone gone over 225's in front. my buddy had 16s on his 87 that rubbed but im not sure what size they were

How do you like 'em? I have P225/60r15's on the front of my car, but next summer (was supposed to be this summer ) I'm going to lose the air shock look and get shorter rear tires. I was thinking of getting shorter front tires, too, and moving up to P235's in the front. Rears will probably wind up being 255/60's instead of the 275/60's I've got now.

It gave the car a good stance and nice ride. I don't drive it much cause I'm trying to sell it so I can paint the 83.

Cool, I'll have to copy that since I'll never remember it because "I r turribel" at math. I'll just stick with the 215 65 15 size I guess. Just didn't know if the rims were same dimensions.
Hard part is finding a snow tread pattern that looks mean. Most of the snow tires I've looked at so far look about like all season tires, which I have already. You got to factor in the pschycological benefits of massive tread. It just makes you feel better.
We unfortunatley don't get to have studded tires over here.

I need to buy some rims for my winter tires and I need to be sure on the size.
Stock Camaro aluminum wheels are 15x7, right? What about the bolt pattern? Reason I ask is because some fellow at the local Les Schwabs was showing me some 15x8 wheels and I swore they looked too wide. I have found some other rims I am going to buy and just want to be sure before I order them.
Thanks.

Yes... 15x7 is the stock size rims for any F-body 1986-up. 1982 thru 85 had 14x6 rims standard (except the Z-28).
Bolt pattern should be the same for 14 thru 16 inch rims. Chrysler and Ford bolt patterns are different.

Rim / tire Size for a 91 camaro
From the stuff i read on here the stock size for camaro is 15/7? Is that for 91 as well? How do i pick the correct size rim and tire for my car? my boyfriend said he thought that my car was suppose to come stock with 16s and hes unsure about the size of the tire, the backspacing and all that other stuff. Is 16s too big? I want to buy the torque thrust II American Racing rims. I just dont know what will fit my car....

When I put the ZQ8's on my RS, i went with 245/50/r16's all they way around and there is a considerable difference in the stance, ride and stability. Genereally speaking, i think the wider, the better... IMO ofcourse...
