Here's the price for the Crower, Summit wants $130. The "kit" that crower recommends, 84008, goes for $160 at Summit... I wonder what's in that kit? I couldn't find a description. Oh; wait, just did a search on the crower site, looks like it comes with lifters, valvesprings, pushrods, pushrod guide plates, and spring retainers. The lobe separation for that cam is 108 degrees.
The ARI ProBuilder 3 cam goes for $169.56, and comes with lifters... but I got the price thru http://www.engine-parts.com/GMV6/28strokergpl.html , not Summit Racing. They don't list an exact lobe center, just 107(I) 117(E), so I guess if you go in the middle, lobe sep is 112. That cam has good vacuum, though, 16-18" Hg.
I would suggest emailing each cam manufacturer to see what they think of their cams in your application. I voted on the CompuCam before I noticed you were running a carb; I wouldn't use the CompuCam 2030 on a carb'd motor. You can have increased lobe sep (lower vacuum) on a non computer controlled car, which translates into a more lopey idle.

Voted for other: GM 3.4 crate motor cam kit . $120 or so fromGM
Duration @ .050........lift.....................lobe centerline

204....216...........427.....454...............112
TomP, you sure that more centerline increases lope?

ok I know that the 3.4 and 3.1 are kinda a like here. What would you recommend for the 3.1L cam wise? A 3.1 is what I have in mine . I lookin into building another and putting heads and cam on it.

1 = i may be getting a bare 3.4 block.. and there for no stock cam..
2 = im actually looking for something that will give me more power than the stock cam..
the 2030 sure is a popular choice here.. i thought that would happen tho..

They're probably choosing it for the same reason I did, we thought the car was computer controlled. Another thing I thought of last night; when you email the companies, make sure you tell them in the email what yo'ure doing as far as headwork, fuel, rear gears, etc... the crower website seemed to think a ton of work should be done to the motor in order to take full advantage of a level 4 cam. The higher lift you go, I think the higher pound valvesprings you need, etc... what kind of rockers will you run? Stock?

im not sure what kind of rockers im gonna use.. comp cams roller tip 1.52 or 1.6.. probably use the 1.52.. w/ stock 3.4 heads (donno bout macine work yet)..
rite now im thinking.. stock bottom end, edelbrock 2bbl intake, holly 390 cfm 2bbl carb, stock 3.4 heads, 1.52 roller tip rocker, edelbrock performer-plus cam.. that seems to be the most cost efficent build at this time..
vortec makes sc for carbed engines.. ill probably get the carb enclosure to see if i can get it to work w/ my carb/intake setup

if you're gonna sc, get forged pistons, thermal coating for piston & heads, & full roller rocker arms. May cost more $$$ than you planned, but will help utilize full benifits.
