Choosing torque converter...not that easy

Ive been checking posts...checking sites...

choosing a torque converter is dependent upon peak torque point at a certain rpm...

then you want the converter to be 400-700 rpms under where the engine makes the most power...

how do i determine that without getting my car dynoed?

355...
comp cam 08-300-8

other parts here and there.

what info do i need?

anyone runnin the same cam?

I want a converter better than stock for a daily driven street/strip car.

Get one with a stall speed 800/1000 rpm over your stock convetrer. I have one with 2400 stall and its a daily driver.

There is some good info on the website above.

I think the rule of thumb is get the stall 500 rpm below peak torque. Find out where that cam makes peak torque and 500 rpm's below that is where you want to be.

I have a 2400 stall 12" convertor for sale if you want it, but I'd recommend something with at least 2800 stall.

I'm running 3500 stall now, and will probably step-up to a 4200-4400 stall in the summer. Don't be afraid of of anything over 2500 stall, it won't kill you or your mileage, if that's what you care about.

All i care about is beating the other guy...and still get to work.

So comp-cams should be able to give me my peak power points?

if I can take a 3500 you may have to get your new one sooner

The duration of the cam at .050, the lobe centers, the rear end gear ratio, & the type of driving you do have the most in determining the stall needed/required for your application. Let me know if I can be of help?
