I found a local guy parting out a 79 z28 and it has 3.73 and posi not sure if its a 10 bolt 9 bolt or what gonna call tommorow
but will it bolt right up in my car or would i have to rework some things
and what do you think it would be worth:lala:

Car: 84 SVO
Engine: Volvo headed 2.3T
Transmission: WCT5
Axle/Gears: 8.8" 3.73
G-body rears are shorter than 3 gen rears, not to mention a 8.5 GN/442 rear runs +$600 bucks minimum...and if your going to the hassle to fabricate a rear end to fit..go with a 9 inch..better rear than a 8.5 and a better selection of vehicles and ratios to scrounge from...btw using a 78 Lincoln Versailes housing with 86 SVO discs brakes (around $500 bucks in parts) on my Malibu but I made the brackets and mounts. cheers, Bob

Finding a diff that fits isn't hard. The hard part is deciding how to use the suspension. The spring and shock mounts can be easily swapped over to the new diff however there's no way to mount the torque arm. On a 9" diff you can buy the torque arm mount from Currie and weld it on but all the GM diffs are cast iron making welding on mounts almost impossible.
