Good Deal? Complete 4th Gen M6 Drivetrain for 1800 w/ rear.

I just found a cool place here out in AZ called All Mustang & F-Body. I went there today to see what they had in their yard and found a 96 Z that hit a pole @ 100MPH dead on. The front end recessed at least 2 feet back.

Anyway, the deal is I can get the t-56, pedals, bellhousing, clutch, flywheel, shifter, driveshaft, AND rear end w/ 3.42's and disc brakes for 1800 out the door.

I think I could also get a auto rear end from a ls1 and run s 3.23 rather than the 3.42. Which one you guys think I should get? Good brakes and 3.23 or second rate brakes and 4.32.

Or can I weasel my way for him to give me the backing plates and brakes from the LS1 and put the better brakes on the 3.42. Is that something bolt on or would it require cutting and welding?

I just got my stuff from spohn: SFC's, LCA's, LCA relocaters and a poly bushing for my PHB so that all the back is the 1/2 poly, 1/2 solid spherical bushing set up.

All that and then to scrap my 89 and give the 90 the Jamex springs, triangle brace, Koni struts, Herb adam shocks, J&M caster camber plates, control arms w/ poly bushings and heavy duty moog ball joints, all front end links, all poly bushings ... blah blah blah.

I think once I get all that in the car I'm done w/ something not hellaously fast, but tight and fun to drive. I just want to not have to mess with anything else tilll I graduate.

I want to sell the 700R4 for cash to get the spohn torque arm kit. The car has only 40k miles. Can i get 450 for it in the local paper classifieds? I'll have to keep the auto in it until I sell it so the buyer can test drive it. At least I can take my time putting in the pedals and slave cylinder over a couple of weekends.

Thanks in advance for the advice and the motivation to build a better car

yea dood, same with the rearend. cause tha driveshaft connects...

100 mph dead on, i wonder what he was thinking as he hit......

oh yea, and side note, LS1 and LT1
two diff birds, different bellhousings, different driveshafts, would lead me to believe diff rear end hookups...

so, you fly ALL LS1,

or mix n match LT1 L98 etc....

The motor was not hit, just the front end. Maybe 2 ft is a bit of an exaggeration.

On a LS1, the bellhousing may be different, but the d/s, rear end and just about everything else are the same. Check any parts catalog for a d/s or LCA's. They are the same 1982-2002.

I talked the guy into the 99 rear and the 96 trans. He said that the LS1 trans and bellhousing are one casing. I'll be getting the rear this week. Anybody want a 700R4 CHEAP?!?
