Need advice on shortening/adapting 9" with screwy bolt pattern.
I picked up a ford 9" at a yard for my current project. it's out of a late 70's Lincon..which as it turns out has a 5x5 bolt pattern instead of the normal 5x4.5. Weld doesn't make a 15x10 Prostar on that pattern. They make a 15x12...but that would be ridiculous overkill. The 10's would have been overkill. The rear does have to be shortened anyway..so here are my options.
1. Find another rim, probably for a truck, that I don't like as much and wieghs more.
2. have it shortened, a Wilwood disk setup put on, and strange axles with a matching the original rear 4.75 bolt pattern. Can you even put that setup on a drum rear?
3. Just use the 15x12's.
#2 is also kinda overkill, not to mention much more expensive...but I don't like drum rears anyway and these drums are frigg'n monstrous on top of it.
Don't suppose you guys have an option #4 and/or an opinion on the first 3?

Why would you not redrill the brakes and axles to a 4.75" pattern? Then you can use the 9" brakes and current axles with your factory lug pattern. 15X12's, very limited tire selection for that. I doubt any of them would remotely look like they fit under the car.
