Does the 700R4 TV cable cause this?
Hello Guys,
I need some help to figure out what causes the problem with my fresh rebuilt 700R4. It’s in an average Iroc-z 305 TPI, gear ratio 3:23. Trans oil level right. The converter is new: GM18AHF.
I experience these 2 issues.
1. It’s strange that in reverse gear it needs high RPM (1000-1200) to start. Before rebuild it started always at idle.
2. While driving at 45 mph the trans switches fast up and down between 3rd and 4th and doesn’t keep the 4th gear. If I increase the speed to 60 and keep the pedal it works fine, remains in 4th and the lockup also works well.
I suppose just a right TV cable adjustment needed that I’ve tried many times but it haven’nt helped yet.
Is it possible that the wrong TV cable length causes these sympthomes? Should I keep trying or go back to the service?
Thanks in advance

1. No
2. Maybe but probably not
Sounds like something went wrong in the rebuild.

Thank you. I added some info about the converter to my opening text. Maybe it makes sense and might cause the 1st sympthom.

Probably not.
Sounds like a pressure problem; pump maybe, or related.
