700R4 1986 does not shift when punched
Hello All,
After 2-3 months finally just get to start driving again. So I take off in 1st gear up to 15 mph "Punch it" ROAR... get to
4500 yellow no shift
5000 red no shift!
Take my foot off gas it casually shifts normally. Hmmm my preivous1985 always shifted in 4500 yellow. Keep driving Trans is shifting fine. Later try again get up to 10-15 mph punch it ROAR...
4500 yellow No shift,
Then 5000 Red No Shift,
Next 5500 Red No Shift!
Let off the Gas it casually shifts normally. The Trans and all gears feel strong Tran fluid Ruby red it was a one owner woman. I'm not punching it anymore 113,ooo mile
I just wanted to test it out. Any thought on why it won't shift in 1st under the gun but does under normal driving?
Thanks for any Replies!

The most popular video available on how to 700r4 is straight up wrong, the real way it should be adjusted is by pushing the button back and sliding in the TV cable as far back into the bracket as it will go, have someone floor the car and you'll hear a few clicks, that is the bracket self adjusting itself. That will give you the bulk adjustment, if it shifts too soon or two late you can fine tune it from there but I wouldn't go more than 2 clicks in each direction or you risk transmission damage, do NOT hold the button down while the throttle is being floored or else you will get an incorrect adjustment that will result in no kickdown and weird shifts (like the videos tells you). There are two ways you can verify the cable being correct or not and that's by either pulling the pan and looking for the TV lever inside and making sure when the gas is floored it is in the valvebody all the way, or you can make sure when the throttle is floored there is absolutely no play in the cable and it is as tight as can be.
