Driving in D hurting tranny
Another one of these.. I've read multiple threads on this issue with conflicting answers. I wanted to know will driving in the city in D hurt a 700R4? It has a shift kit. Not sure what though. She's seen many a owner before me. I've read it will glaze the clutch which makes sense, but then another poster said it won't hurt it at all? Don't want to tear up my car just cruising.
Also I don't down shift or manual shift it. I just prefer the sound and feel of D over OD. Thanks sorry if this is a very basic question.

Using D instead of OD shouldn't hurt anything, it will just lock out the overdrive. It may wear out the clutch a little faster since it will be shifting at higher RPM's.

Driving in D will not hurt the transmission. If you had a truck with the 700R4 and you were towing a trailer then you would want to use D instead of OD to save the transmission. You can not tow in OD with a 700R4. Driving in D will only use a little more gas, but it will not hurt the transmission.
