4L60E 2-3 shift issue
... I have a '94 4L60E that won't shift from 2nd to 3rd in D4 unless I lift completely off the throttle and wait for it ... all other D4 shifts are fine , including 4th to 3rd ... it will go into 3rd if I downshift from D4 to D3 , but it won't go into 3rd at all if I start off in D3 or manually up-shift from D2 ..... over the weekend I changed the shift solenoids , force motor , all 3 accumulator pistons and the separator plate ... while the valve body was out I moved every valve / spring that I could get at and nothing was sticking ......... it shifts better now from 1st to 2nd but its still the same for 3rd ..... ANY ideas ? ............

Re: 4L60E 2-3 shift issue
..... This happens at any throttle application over about 20% ... no up shift to 3rd unless I lift completely off the throttle ... the ONLY time it will shift all by its lonesome is if I'm driving in a 30mph or less zone and the throttle is barely applied from the start .............. this engine won't rev to 5700 rpm ..............

Re: 4L60E 2-3 shift issue
..... No codes ... fluid is bright red , clear and smells as bad as it does in the can ... like fish oil ......... this trans is not slipping ... the convertor clutch locks up ... all other up and down shifts are as normal ... it just does not like shifting to 3rd gear at any "load " TPS position ... per the scanner the TPS and MAP are operating as intended , MAP is new ... this is in my tow vehicle , '94 Suburban ... no need for a shift kit ...... but its kinda tough pulling out into traffic with a trailer full of Corvette and a truck that wants to stay in 2nd gear unless I lift all the way off the throttle and let it go to 3rd ... of course , by that time I've lost valuable momentum and it wants to downshift back to second ... without the trailer it will stay in 3rd and shift normally to 4th .........

Re: 4L60E 2-3 shift issue
... BTW ... NONE of the diagnostic flow charts refer to this 3rd gear shifting reluctance only ... it is always in combination with some other fault / issue ... there are no other issues ... I'm beginning to think its a 3rd accumulator problem or a weak or broken spring somewhere ... I really hope its NOT the check ball capsule in the case , its a b*tch to get at with the trans in the car and if I go for it and fail , the only option is to pull it and go inside ... I haven't disassembled the Vbody yet or pulled the Servo but both are on my list to check next time I'm in there ... I was hoping someone could point me at a valve or two to look at specifically ..............

I'm going to guest that the 3-4 clutch pack needs to be replaced

Re: 4L60E 2-3 shift issue
I would say something is broken or worn out like a bad 2-3 solenoid (weak) or an accumulator. 3-4 clutch burn out and it would neutralise and rev. Time to drop the pan.

I say worn or broken lip seals or cracked 2-3 accumulator or both, may be just about to have 3/4 burn up.

Re: 4L60E 2-3 shift issue
... In the very first post I revealed that I had taken the valve body OUT and replaced ALL accumulator pistons , ALL solenoids , The EPC Force motor , and the separator plate with no change in operation .......... already been in the pan and then some .....
