best gears for my build
hey guys I would like to know what do you think would be a good ratio combo for my build... eventually im going to get a moser 9 inch rear and swap to a t56.... so here a my general mods
355 engine
afr 195 heads
FIRST tpi intake
gm hotcam
t56 tranny
I don't know weather to choose 3.73 or 4.11 gears for this ride..... this isn't a daily driver as it doesn't have ac or heat.. only driven on nice days...

That's the one you need to buy gears for, RIGHT NOW, TODAY.
What you hallucinate at this moment that you're "eventually" gonna do, is completely irrelevant since none of the parts swap over, and even more important, it doesn't exist.
One could eeeeeeeezily argue that if you're "eventually" gonna buy a 9", then that's what you should be buying gears for as well. Although what I see in your "general mods" makes a 9" look like a waste of precious horsepucker to me. But then, what do I know about some weenie stock cam with 218° of intake duration.

I would leave well enough alone, enjoy the ride and save those pennies.

I have heard that when swapping to a 6 speed its recommended to upgraded the rear end to an aftermarket rear.... ive already been through two rear ends so far....

I have heard
I've heard the Earth was flat too; but it seems the Earth at least, wasn't listening.
The LT1 and LS1 cars seem to do just fine with stock rears and a 6-speed. I don't guess they heard about this either.
Most of the time, tearing up rear ends repeatedly is a matter you should take up with your driver. S/he probably needs to learn how to drive in such a way as not to cause that to happen. I can assure you, this hobby is ALOT more fun when your team has a driver that understands that equipment costs money, and isn't so hard on it.

Re: best gears for my build
lol sofakingdom I've always liked you sense of humor.... when does the aftermarket rear become necessary..... I just hear on this site how a lot of people grenade the stock rear with stock power levels... the car is down now.. I haven't really driven the car since last year.... but I know I have big plans for it.... I want to change the cam to a comp 503 cam and I know with that cam the FIRST intake and afr 195 I will probably have somewhere around 360 370whp and 400+wtq and all this going through a six speed....
