Leaking everywhere but the front seal!!
I got the transmission back today and it is leaking everywhere but the front seal. It is leaking at the servo seal, kick down boot, and tail housing seal. Are these easy fixes or should I look for an used transmission?

Re: Leaking everywhere but the front seal!!
The transmission never had problems until my lt1 was dropped in. Drove home fom work one day, parked it, came back to a leak that's just getting worst.
The said they believe it isn't stock, because I have electric cables for my speedo but the transmission is cable driven? Unknown amount of miles on it. Speedometer hasn't worked since I got the car in may but the odometer has 233,xxx.
Sorry, hope that helped some.

Well. Are they quick fixes for my mechanic? He's been to busy to look at it. And I would like to know which path to take. The transmission shop said $260-280. Or is it just to much work and I should look for a used transmission? They have used 700r4's at my local junkyard for $250. But none are from thirdgens.
I'm trying to make it to the thirdgen fest.

Re: Leaking everywhere but the front seal!!
That's strange they didn't tell you where it was leaking.
The good black Delco pan gasket won't leak unless the case is not flat or the pan is bent. Avoid overtorqueing any gasket, but especially cork.
The speedo / VSS o-ring is extremely easy to change.
The tailhousing seal isn't tough if you use a flat TH350 seal and have the tailhousing off, but is more work to change because of the torque arm.
If you're asking if you should pay someone $280 to fix external leaks, I wouldn't if you have a jack and tools and until you've figured out that it's one of the pieces that's tougher to change.
I'd use a good spray degreaser, rinse things off, powder the trans. down with talcum powder so you can see where it's leaking. Fix what's leaking. If the servo seal is bad, that's a bit more work but still not terrible.

Looks like ill have to order a kickdown seal from to Reilly's for a dollar.
Can't find a 700r4 servo seal. So guess I have to order an corvette servo seal.
