th200c won't burnout
So my rebuilt th200c 3 speed refuses to spin tires in drive. I can smoke my back left in reverse but that's it. The engine will just sit at 2000 RPMs if I am in drive and wont move past till I let off the brakes. My buddy has a 92 RS with the V6 and 700r4 and that will smoke up like mad, so is it just my transmission that won't do it or is there more to it? From what I have read and heard the 200c was designed for a V6 and should never really be used on a v8, especially a 350. I have had gear shavings in the pan for months now and am trying to get started on the swap over to the 700r4 but till then I want to know why I can't have a little smokey fun now and then.

Re: th200c won't burnout
well when I first got the car I could never get the wheels to spin, and some guy had somehow managed to put the drums in backwards. As far as power, how does a v6 with no mods overpower a 350? I know this whole question is probably just silly but it would be nice to know. I rarely see anyone on here with the 200c and it seems like most people on other forums have also gotten rid of them for many reasons including hogging power. thanks anyways guys

Re: th200c won't burnout
does sound like rear brakes are gripping really well and preventing the burnout-could be engine power lacking due to wrong ignition timing or something too. Many years ago i had a th350 with a 3.23s behind a stock 305 and no problems doing burnouts at all TH200 is kinda like a smaller th350,when th200 came out in '76 it was only used behind v6s,but was beefed up in 1982 for v8 duty. The th200-4r is a 4spd modification of the 200 and uses many of the same internal parts as the 3spd version. The th200 4r was also strengthened in 1982 and strong enough for use in performance G-body cars such as buick grand national.

Re: th200c won't burnout
Guessing here but it's probably a combination of the 200C's high first gear and a non-performance oriented 2.xx rear end ratio - swap to something a little more performance oriented in the trans and the rear end... Plus more power always helps!
Also could be that you're starting off in 2nd gear for some reason which would really kill things too - try manual low (1st) and see if that does anything?

And I have tried it in drive as well as manual 1st with no change. The manual low does help in speed competitions though as I can hold it a little longer than my shift kit would and it seems to perk up a little faster but the motor will still hold. I will try and get a video of me attempting to burn out friday night so you guys can see.
