Will an LT1 T-56 clutch, 11" work in a T-5?
I have a built 355ci in my 89 IROC and I'm running a 92 WC T-5 trans. I noticed the LT1 transmissions have the same spline count as my T-5, so, is it possible to run an LT1 flywheel and clutch? I'm looking for more holding power. The clutches I've ran so far, 10-1/2, have not lasted very long. Granted I haven't spent six hundred dollars on a top of the line clutch... mostly Ram HD and Centerforce DFX. Just thought if I could use T-56 hardware... clutch and flywheel, that I would have more choices for better quality parts.
Thanks

Nope. Doesn't work. Wouldn't be worth it to make it work either.
You can get a 10.75" clutch for '88 Vette app. that also won't solve the problem which is a combination of your driving and clutch material.
One of the most surprising clutch lifetimes I've seen was a third gen clutch relined in some kind of ceramic by a brake and clutch exchange place. 408 + T5 ended up breaking the trans., but the clutch lasted a good few years. Nowhere near $600 either.

With as far as clutch technology has come these days, there's no need at all to run an 11" clutch. The RIGHT 10.5" clutch will more than hold your engine power. Spend the money on a Ram HD Powergrip and you should be set. I prefer Ram over Centerforce. That whole weight thing on the pressure plate fingers is mostly a gimmick.
