5sd from a v6 in on a 350 sbc
it seems there is no 5spd v8 parts cars let alone any at all around me to do a 5spd swap but I came across a v6 with a t5 in it for $800 today what all parts would work and what would I still need to get ?

I think you would just need the v8 bell housing.. And it should work

if im not mistaken u will need to use a different clutch , i belive the v6/v8 versions have different spline input shafts
we had some discusion in the v6 section about using the v8 t5 behind the v6 and it required an off the shelf clutch from a 4.3 astro van or blazer or something

I would just wait for a v8 t5 if you use that v6 t5 you'll tear through
The gears just like I did.

I agree wait for the v-8 version there are a lot of guys doing the t-56 swap and will probably sell you every thing you need including pedals , put an ad in the clasifieds for wanted t-5 , make sure its a world class . although its not bullet proof it will stand up better than the non world class version. just some advise swap your rear main seal while your in there . dont overlook the pilot bearing install ,as I did on my first swap.LOL use this site every step of the way there are lots of guys that have done everything imaginable to our cars , And quite willing to help . there are a few impatient members also . so dont be discouraged by that . good luck!

i wouldnt worry about it to much im 90% sure that internally the v6/v8 t5's are the same
the main differences i belive is the input shaft and 1-2nd gear ratios.
dont beat the thing like a read headed step cheld and it should live just fine

I helped my neighbor do this very swap. he got a v-8 bellhousing and a new clutch from Carquest autoparts. it was specifically designed to fit the v-6 output shaft, but had a clutch big enough for the v-8 flywheel. if carquest had it, other parts stores in your area will probably have it too. i've driven the kids car and it shifted as nice as my t5.

$ 800 is alot of wood for a v6 ,,, t5 its really not worth investing into the smaller spline tranny, trust me hold out til you find a v8 version you'll thank yourself in the end...
