Drive Shaft Help

I am running a 355 sb with a turbo 350 trans with a short tail. Combo is pushing around 340 hp at the wheels. I am looking for a driveshaft and wanted to stay around 300 but if I have to go a little higher 400 is max.
Here is what I found so far

PST $300 for a steel shaft 3"
$420 for a alunimum 3" (just about eliminated due to value)

Spohn $375 for a chrome moly 3"

Ebay $200 steel 3" shaft (dont know what I am going to get)

I guess the question is PST steel for 300 or Spohn chrome moly for 375 or is there another option out there I am missing?

Re: Drive Shaft Help

I ride bmx so I know 4130 (chromoly) is about 2/3rds stronger then regular steel. I believe because it is a harder material so it takes more to twist or bend it. Givin the same thickness chromoly is way stronger.. If you were apply those materials to Alumium with the same thickness I believe the alumium would be between the two but lighter then both

Re: Drive Shaft Help

I've heard good things from Denny's Driveshafts and looks like they have some on sale currently.

I've never used anything but the steel stock one so far. It has a crazy wobble at 7000 RPM though or anything over 120 MPH. I was thinking of swapping an LS1, but after seeing some of the carnage from those I'm leaning more towards getting one built somewhere eventually.

Re: Drive Shaft Help

with a relatively high gear ratio (needs better balance than one for a 2.73 car for example) and automatic (less likely to stress the driveshaft on a hard launch than a stick car) I'd go for aluminum.
