Which Flywheel on T56 swap
Background:
I have an 87' IROC Camaro with an earlier motor (not sure what yr) that has a 2pc rear main seal. I am swapping the 700R4 trans for a T56 out of a 97 Camaro.
Problem:
The 97 flywheel was for a 1pc rear main seal (smaller diameter hole and bolt pattern). I ordered an OE JEGS flywheel (12-3/8" 153-teeth, steel 16lb) 601200
The overall thickness of the new flywheel is ~1/2" less and the counterbore is not as deep as the original from the 97'. The clutch plate has the protruding springs side facing the flywheel and does not clear bolt heads to the flywheel.
Help:
Looking for the right flywheel that is a reasonable cost (new or used).
Thanks for looking and hopefully sharing some knowledge.
Brad

The only flywheel that will work for you is a special conversion flywheel made by center force and it isn't cheap.

There's more than one.
At the top of this forum, read "My T56 Swap Thread..." all the way through.
And https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tran...-flywheel.html
Then you might have more questions, but at least the flywheel one will be answered.

While not cheap, its actually not that bad of a price considering its a specialty, SFI approved, billet steel flywheel.

Ouch! My pocket just went numb.
Anyone have one for sale? Also, since there are a couple of choices, I would think aluminum or lightened would be better for performance applications. Anyone using any of these that would want to comment?
Thanks folks!

I just found the Fidanza 198661 on Amazon for $348 (26% less). I guess that works. I like the lightweight aluminum & replacable clutch surface and ring gear.
