Pedals and hydaulics for T56.

This subject seems to come up alot and the info seems pretty scattered. What setup are you running and how are the results? What modifications or custom set ups have you come up with and why?

I have personally done a bit of searching and have found very inconsistent opinions on the subject and can't decide what to buy.

So far I've been considering using 3rd gen pedals, T5 master and a custom or modified line on my lt1 style swap. What I haven't found however is if there is a volume difference between the masters? Any opinions against going this route? I just want everything as factory and non jankey as possible.

I have done a swap before with an ls1 t56 and found that when using the 98+ hydaulics and the 4th gen pedals the clutch pedal sat high, engagment was near the top, and the rod was at a concerning angle. It worked fine but I felt it could be better.

With the 3rd gen pedals and 4th gen master the pedals are braced better but you have to modify to get the rod on the pedal as the pegs are different between the pedals.

Re: Pedals and hydaulics for T56.

i have 3rd gen pedals and lt1 style hydraulics in my 86, with a sbc and a tko600. Pedal is high, and engages about midway off the floor. Works fine.

I have 4th gen pedals in my 92. 3.1 with a t5. I used the 4th gen 1lt hydro's inthat car and did not have enough travel to disengage the clutch, and the pedal was low. I had to move the pivot on the pedal to compensate.

I also could find no real info stating any difference in the size of the masters, but the pivot pins on the pedals are defiantly difference between the 3rd and 4th gen pedals.

I also agree the 3rd gen pedals have much better firewall support legs than the 4th gens do.

Re: Pedals and hydaulics for T56.

Ya, I even did a google search to try and find the spec's on the two masters and haven't found a thing. I wish someone that has a couple junk masters would pull them apart and measure the bore diameter and depth. I'm amazed that nobody has provided any solid info on this.

Seems though that regardless of which master used, both masters have been noted to will work fine and seem to push enough volume to operate the LT1 style slave. So maybe I'm just being **** and over-analyzing things.

What did you do to get the 4th gen master rod to fit on the 3rd gen pedal? From my understanding people are cutting and threading the rod and putting on a 3rd gen end, or drilling out the bushing to fit the 3rd gen pin.

Still strikes me though that the cleanest install would be the 3rd gen pedals and T5 master with the custom line. That way it minimizes the need to splice wires and the rod to pedal connection remaines unhacked and factory.

Re: Pedals and hydaulics for T56.

I used 4th gen pedals with 4th gen hydros. The only mod I needed to do was make the clutch rod adjustable to get the throw just right. No problems yet.
