Re: Shift kit ???

im not exactly sure whats all in that shift kit but for $37 it cant be that good my trans go shift kit was $110 and do a shift kit right you do have to pull the trans out and drill holes in certian places, i had someone do mine when i got my trans rebuilt.. if you would do it yourself and screw up u just cost yourself a transmission

Re: Shift kit ???

Yah. A shift kit does improove the life of your 700R4. I'm not entirely sure whats in this shift kit exactly, and mine was installed by a professional at a transmission shop, so as far as installing it goes I can't offer any advice on how to do it yourself. I would suggest installing a shift kit though. It really helps with performance and the life of your transmission. Best of luck to you, hope this helped.

Re: Shift kit ???

Never seen one that cheap. B&M is a reputable name so I would trust there products not to screw a tranny up(as long as instructions were followed SPOT ON!!!) Says hand tools and an afternoon so I doubt you'll need the trans removed or any serious doctoring.

evilemokid94

how does it help the life?

By eliminating the amount of slippage your trans goes through every time it shifts.
stock smooth shifting= more friction, more heat, more comfortable driver
shift kit= less friction, less heat, better performance

Re: Shift kit ???

Skip the B&M stock rebuild bandaid stuff. It won't last long unless your grandma drives the car.

Call Dana @. (if you want to do things correctly)

Dana has the best kits you can get, they are transgo kits on steroids..they even include the corvette servo. Considering everything you get they are a good price too

Re: Shift kit ???

The cheap shift kits are usually just a separator plate and gaskets. If you know what holes to drill and plug you can do the same thing for free on your stock separator plate.

As far as hurting your tranny that mainly depends on what condition it is in to start with. If it is a mild shift kit (ie the holes that have been drilled out havent been hogged out) and you get a corvette servo (20 bucks) it should be fine if your tranny is in good shape to start with. You can also get a bigger boost valve.

They arent hard to install you just have to pull your pan and your valve body.

That would be about the most you could do to it without pulling your tranny but then if you go that far you might as well do a full rebuild on it and put in all the common improvements.

Re: Shift kit ???

My kits include the TransGo Junior Shift kit modified for HD Shift kit, or the Junior combined with the 700-2-3 Performance Shift kit for the modified Performance Shift kit. All kits include the Corvette servo, both boost valves, TCC & governor filter, valve body gaskets, Torlon checkballs, drill bits, shims to take up slack in the apply pin, spacer for the forward accumulator to take up slack in the accumulator spring, Viton D-rings for the Corvette servo, guide & cover seals, instructions. Can include accumulator pistons and modified 2nd accumulator piston, accumulator pins and seals. Can include a pre-drilled and further modified separator plate with hardened corner plate custom tailored to your application. All this is for smooth part throttle 1-2 shifts, and with more throttle the shifts will get quicker. And is setup to give you the best chance at a longer transmission life.
