Torque Arm Bracket Bolts - t5 to t56
Anyhow, swap is going great thanks to everyone here, but I am sort of worried.
I installed my new poly torque arm bushing (pita btw), and since it's so tight I tried putting the bolts from the t5 into t56, both of the bottom ones worked, but the top one (shorter one) went in on an angle for the first 1 or 2 threads because the bracket wont stay together on it's own.
Anyhow, I started to mess it up I think, and I took everything off, and just tried the bolt into the top mount alone (just to check the threads). It screws in by hand about 2 turns straight, and then I started using a wrench, well it felt a little tough getting it in there, but I could not tell if it was cross threading. I pulled it back out, and it looked the same before I started. I put the bolt back in again, threaded in great again, then started using the wrench and ****....a bit tough again.
I went all the way in with it, and the bolt feels solid, it's straight, but I'm worried I cross threaded the damn thing. Just wondering if anyone's used the stock bolts or not, or if I just ****ed this thing up. I don't have a tap and die set, (one of the last tools I need), so checking with one of those wasn't an option.
Just wondering if anyone knew the bolt specs for both the t5 and t56 offhand or ran into this personally.
Thanks

Re: Torque Arm Bracket Bolts - t5 to t56
I'm having the exact same problem. Poly bushing, T56 swap, and can't get that top bolt to thread in. Goes in a couple turns without trying to install the bushing, then won't go any further without a wrench. I've given up trying to do it with the arm in place. I'm gonna just shove the arm through. But first I gotta get that mount and bushing in. Biggest problem I have is same thing can't get it to go straight in, always at an angle. Then I stop bec I don't want to cross thread or strip it. Making me wish I installed the Mount and Bushing while it was out of the car.
