700R4 and 500HP!?!

I am a few weeks away from completing my 500HP 383 stroker but I have the Borg Warner 5 speed manual which I know wont hold. I hate to get rid of this tranny due to the 5th gear overdrive but im not left with a choice in this matter I am leaning towards a 700R4 because of the overdrive but...........what are the chances of having a 700R4 built to handle this power and still be reliable?

Re: 700R4 and 500HP!?!

okay i just read the post about " built 700R4 or t56 " and it seemed quite clear that someone out there can build a good dependable 700R4 that can take the abuse that I am looking for!

Re: 700R4 and 500HP!?!

Since you already have a Manual tranny, just swap to a (built) T56. Problem solved.

I initially went this exact route and it is not a cheap one to take. I think I added the costs up to $3,200 for a swap assuming everything checked out with the trans I bought. I ended up going with a TH350 over my T5 WC. Not gonna lie, though... T56's are awesome transmissions, heh.

Re: 700R4 and 500HP!?!

i made that thread... i was going to use the t56 but with expense including a used t56 was alot greater than a brand new dana probuilt 700r4 and a new vigilante stall and its all bolt in also... so ima give dana a shot... also because i have two subframe connectors it would be difficult to use the t56 swap crossmember without cutting off my alstons and changing my current y pipe design and i didnt want to change that or cut my alstons connectors..
