T5 trans leaking... please see pic
ok my trans has been leaking for years now. I rebuilt it about five years ago.
I topped it off yesterday and spent a good hour wiping all the grease off so i could see where it was leaking from. I've driven it around for a while and now there is a lot more coming out after i park. See the pic below. It looks like it might becoming from that round torx bolt but it is very tight already. Does anyone have any idea where it could be leaking from??? maybe from the main case cover....
A good amount is collecting at the lower bellhousing bolt and along the ridge at the bottom... is it possible that it's leaking from between the tranny and bellhousing (like maybe a bad input shaft bearing?)... thanks in advance for any input....

If it's leaking from between the bell housing and transmission there is a good chance that it's the case itself leaking. The case streches and causes issues with the gear lash. Usually some gear noise comes along with this. Maybe you'll get lucky that it is just the input bearing leaking...but be prepared for the worst. I remember seeing a post on it not too long ago, if you do a quick search you'll probably find some more info.

Mine leaked from press fit front counter shaft bearing(NWC Non World Class) T5 --305 HO V8)-The bearing is press fitted into case and eventually the torque generated at end of counter shaft wobbles-out case around bearing letting fluid leak out around bearing-I repaired mine the first time-lasted another 30,000 miles then happened again-Now I just finished installing a rebuilt WC(Word Class) T5 to rid myself of this problem.

I machined damaged bearing end of counter shaft to smaller Dia-then press fitted a hardened tool steel sleeve over that and reground to bearing specs-As far as case goes I reinstalled a new counter shaft bearing using Loctite bearing mount-It lasted for 30,000 mile but then I broke a gear-and decided to go with a rebuilt WC T5-good to go now.
