is a 3600 stall tq converter too much?
im trying to figure out what a good stall would be for me. i have a crate 350 with trickflow heads and a fully ported edelbrock TPI intake. i run the motor to about 5600-5700. ive been looking at the ss3600 from yank but wondering if its possible to overdo it. ive driven my cousins ls1 with a 3600 in town and the drivability isnt that much different to me so im not worried about that.

That's probably too much for a TPI 350 motor. It's beyond the torque peak RPM of the intake system.
Something in the high 2000's is about where you want to be; 2600-2800 or so.

What's the camshaft specs? That will determine where the stall speed should be.

That's only the lift. What are the rest of the cam specs.

basically. call precision industries the makers of vigilante. they'll make you one and if you dont like it you can change the stall one time for free in the 1st year I believe.

I have been a distributor for the the Vigilante for over 15 years now. They are an excellent torque converter as most here already know. The cam specs at .050" lift, the lobe centerline, rear end gear ratio, daily driver or weekend warrior, any plans of nitrous, and how you drive, conservative? moderate? moderately aggressive, or aggressive? All of this will determine what the stall should be. Stay the hell away from TCI. I have seen many of these TC's eat the transmissions they were in front of, same with B&M.

Peak torque will be in the 3400-3600 rpm range with strong curve from 3000 to 3800. I'd stay 2800-3000 is best for TPI's power band. Your only gonna run to 5500 rpm shifts with peak in the 5000-5200 range at best.
