Transmission quandry.. 700r4 to 4l60e?

Car: 1988 firebird trans am GTA
Engine: 5.7L w/hsr
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: posi 3.23
Transmission quandry.. 700r4 to 4l60e?
Hey all, question for the transmission experts in here. I just had my 700r4 rebuild last year with performance clutches, shift kit, upgraded hard parts, corvette & Sonnax servos, etc. I'm now putting in an LS1 and have been told its not worth sticking with my old style tranny.
the question is this: what parts are interchangeable? I hate to toss 1400 worth of work & parts and go to a used 4l60e but everyone on the lsx sub forum says that its not worth keeping a 700r4

700r4 wont work with an LS1 anyway. So you need to get an 4L60E designed to work with an LS1

actually, with a vacuum lockup kit, flex-plate adapter and modified tv cable you can use a 700r4 on an LS1. I am thinking i'd rather use the correct transmission but I just dropped a good chunk of change on having my 700r4 rebuilt last spring and don't want to waste my investment. If i can buy a used stock 4l60e and move my upgraded parts into it won't be quite as much of a waste.

Oh well I didnt know they offered those parts then! I have no idea about the internals. good luck with this.
