shift kit question?

ok so i swapped a 700r4 into my 91 305 RS, the tranny came out of a s10 with a 350 and thats about all i know about it, ive been driving on it for 2 days now and it seems to hang out in the gears for a while it shifts kinda hard but very smooth if that makes any sense it doesnt make any noise nor does it slip, im wondering if maybe it has a shift kit?? ive never driven a car with a shift kit so im not sure but everything ive heard about them fits this category.. any replys would be helpful input. thank you!

Re: shift kit question?

theres really no way of knowing without tearing into the tranny and checking out the valve body.. make sure your TV cable is properly adjusted.

Re: shift kit question?

i thought that was self adjusting? im a newb at auto trannys i just unbolted unplugged and unhooked/ then rehooked plugged bolted and added fluid... would this have anything to do with my car making me nervous about stalling when i come to a complete stop or after a quick rev or when i put it in park?

Re: shift kit question?

also i measured the old tv cable from the mount behind the TB to the end of the cable clip and they're the same length... how would i go about adjusting this do you know? also that TV cable does not allow me to open my butterflies all the way and puts a lot of tension on my peddle as well did the old one.

Re: shift kit question?

yeah definitely did. one more question its off topic but just want to get your opinion while the tranny was out i replaced the air stock air breather with a holley classic chrome breather and i also changed my wires since one of mine got melted on the header..

with that being said my car seems to not like to idle it stalls very occasionally when i come to a complete stop put it in park but it always tries to catch itself and is usually successful. now when im sitting at idle in gear the car seems slightly rough did i maybe bump my ignition timing off? it was 100% fine before i did these changes.

Re: shift kit question?

When you went to the aftermarket breather did you install the intake air temp sensor back into the filter houseing?.. im thinking thats where the factory one is for the 305 tbi its been prolly 5 years since i did away with it. Also you might wanna take the idle air control motor out of the throttle body and be sure its not carboned up at all.. even though it was working fine with the other setup...
