Has any one ever tried one ladder bar as close to the center housing as possible ? I had my ca jacked up doing some work to it and it was a thought I had , the rest of the brakets can be cut off and welded to another rear , the single ladder bar towards the center might just work . If I had a ladder bar lying around I'd check !

Re: 8.5 swap is a go!
Long-term postponed. My cancer got worse. Then I did the Dana 60 swap. I still have this axle, and I still intend to do this next year, for getting over 25 MPG with a 454, thanks to the 2.41:1 gears. Finding 2.47:1 gears for the Ford 9" is near impossible, and the tallest gearing for the ford 8.8" axle is 2.73:1 I have the 2.41:1 gears now.

Thanks. Mine's under control, mostly due to a NO-fat diet. Most doctors will deny it, because they can't make any money from it.
