Torque converter lockup...

Short and sweet, what does it mean when your torque converter, while cold and during the first few overdrive shifts, won't lockup until 45 or sometimes as high as 55+? Normal lockup has always been 40 while warm. Thanks for any help at all.

Sounds like it's working normally.

Re: Torque converter lockup...

Thanks so much for the quick reply. It is much appreciated! It also puts my mind to rest. This is how it all started:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tran...ift-other.html

I made a second post because I was worried that all that turned into a different problem. It just all went away one day. It didn't do it for long. Do you happen to know what the hell happened? It drives perfectly. Upon looking back on it, it all revolved around the torque converter.

I also forgot to mention in my last post in the other thread that after the original issues ceased, I heard some "suction" noises coming from around the front of the transmission while the car was stopped but in gear. All this just went away.

Re: Torque converter lockup...

I guess I'll just call it a fluke being no one seems to really be able to put a finger on it.
