T5 from mustang? im ready to be bashed
looking to buy a t5 out of a mustang and a 8.8 rear with it just did research and learned some people have swapped the rear but would it be a good idea vs saving 1000 dollars against buying a t56 trans? i know i dont got the power for a t56 but still i needs i know everyone here has better knowledge and i hope better judgement

the rear can be swapped, but requires a lot of fab work to do. look for the proper f-body t5 or save for a t56.

Mustang T5 work work.. Spines are different, and I think the input shaft is a different length... Do a search, it's on here somewhere...
Or.... just look at the sticky:
"Mustang V8 T5's are different externally, with a 10 spline input shaft and a straight up bellhousing, while the F-body V8 T5 is a 27 spline input and slanted to the right about the 2 o'clock position. They are not compatible with each other externally, but the gears inside are the same. The speedo gears are different as well."

It is possible, but not cheap and not really worth it. You would need a Lakewood bellhousing, either a custom cluch setup as it uses a cable clutch or a hydraulic throwout bearing, you would need a 10 spline disc and a camaro flywheel and pressure plate. The crossmember may have to be custom made as the distance between the block and tailshaft may be different than the chevy version.
Here is the bellhousing you would need. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LAK-15032/
BTW, no bashing from me. My T56 is straight out of a 03 Cobra. But it was a lot of work to get it in there.
