T56 hybrid (SSR+Fbody+Vette) project (1000hp on stock parts?)
Not sure if anyone here is up to those power levels and looking at a manual trans, but I'll post up my latest T56 project.
It's basically an LS1 Fbody T56 on the outside, but is filled with Vette and SSR internals to push the power support up towards 1000hp.
I've photo-documented the disassembly of the Z06-LS7 T56 and the buildup using the SSR 32-spline (TH400 size) mainshaft and Fbody case.
http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~davis/z28...100201_LS7T56/
It can fit directly behind any LS motor, or (as the recent sprout-up of threads on here has mentioned) behind any SBC/BBC using an adapter plate and using muncie/T10/T5/Saginaw clutch/bell setups..

Re: T56 hybrid (SSR+Fbody+Vette) project (1000hp on stock parts?)
It had to be over-built to accomodate the LS2 power and over 6000lb GVWR. It was crippled with a very high and wide ratio gear set (M10) to get the heavy-chevy moving from a stop. It did have/accomidate all the modern/upgraded features of 50% more synchro friction area, steel fork, solid steel keys, wider synchros, etc. though. Adding the MM6 gear set from the 505hp LS7 Z06 makes it the same as the LT1/LS1 fbody versions and able to support even more power. Just about any modern GM T56 (CTSv, C5, pre'08 C6, GTO) can be a donor for the gears.

Rough draft of the write-up:
http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~davis/z28..._Fbody_T56.pdf
As a reference, RPM Transmissions is adapting the new T56 Magnum to the LS F-body, for $4500... My T56 hybrid cost me $1800... (Of course I talk to people that want one for $600, so I guess it's all relative... )
