Detent Cable Bent??

Detent Cable Bent??
Hey guys, I have a little problem and I am not sure at how to fix it. I took one trans out of a junk 86 Camaro to put into an 87 one. They are both automatic and the "good one" ran fine on the ride home. But taking it out we forgot to disconnect the detent cable, so it was basically hanging from the cable. we eventually just cut the cable (because we didn't know how to take it off properly). Now we put it in and it doesn't shift right. Is it possible that we bent the detent cable. And yes we tried to adjust it.
Thanks Chris

Not really, the cable jacket should have taken any strain. What's it doing that makes you say it's not shifting right?

So... you've put the "good" transmission into the "good" car, with a cut and disconnected TV cable?

We removed the cut tv cable from the good trans and hooked the good trans up in the good camaro with its tv cable.
All I really need to know is can I bend what the tv cable connects to into the trans??? And if so what does it take to fix?

well if that's the case, then your best bet would be to head on over to a junk yard and pull off the part you need... I would first take the old tranny's pan off and play around to see what actually has to come out in order to get what you need... straightening the hook is not going to be an option in this occasion....

Ok now I feel like a dork... lol... you already have a bad tranny, do you still have it, the one you took off... just take whatever you need from that one, unless it's damaged as well....
