Transgo shift kit in a 700R4
I have a 700r4 in an 89 iroc with 350 hp carb setup. Motor and trans have 600 miles on them. I know there are a lot of topics on transgo on here. Is there more than one trango shift kit sold for my car. I found one that was 104 bucks and it came with the corvetter servo. My friend has installed one before and I havent. Any advice do's and donts or opinions on the transgo kit.Tranny shifts like stock now, Im looking for a much firmer shift especially when on the gas. Thanks much

Re: Transgo shift kit in a 700R4
There are two kits you can choose from, I suggest the SK700...when I rebuilt my 700 I used the SK700 kit, it was like night and day in the firmness of the shifts...it takes some getting used to though... and I do have a weird thing going on, when in coming out of 1st (shifter in OD) I almost get a "false" shift or it seems like a false shift for a split second, then it will shift into 2nd...doesn't do it when in D, or at WOT (in either D or OD)... it has been something that I have lived with for over 6 years now without any issue but it was definitely a result of the tranny upgrade (but when I re-did my transmission I did a full on race upgrade, upgraded every single piece so it could be a symptom of something other than the shift kit)...

It should but maybe you could call Transgo directly and ask them to be 100% sure....
But maybe someone here can answer that question directly through personal experience, my 700 has a lock up convertor

Re: Transgo shift kit in a 700R4
was it difficult to put in? any advice. Im looking at the one by pro-built automatics and it comes with the corvette servo. Mine just seems real sluggish. Also, can you guys give me the shift points where they should be. I have a 700r4 with a non-lockup converter. My shift points are gear 1-2 at 20, 2-3 at 30 and 3-4 at 40 or 45. Does this seem right. MY dads 87 corvette tpi with a 700r4 shifts from 1-2 at 12-14 and his tranny feels better than mine all around. Mine was just rebuilt 600 miles ago. Thanks for any input.

I used the trans go shift kit about 3 years ago and it's great. I started with the stage 2 but then swapped the 1-2 spring out for the stage 1 cuz i didn't really want it shifting super hard, just tight. It came with really good instructions and was pretty self explanatory to install.

Great guys, thanks for the advice. I called Dan from Pro-built automatics. He was more than helpful!! He set me up a kit and should be here soon. I will let you know how it goes.

Re: Transgo shift kit in a 700R4
I have a TransGo kit in my Trailblazer which has a similar transmission to the 700R4. I had my local shop in stall the shiftkit, vette servo, and .500 boost valve for $200. It makes a big improvement. Firm shifts during regular driving and at WOT the 6300lb Trailblazer now spins into second gear. I'm in the process of getting the same parts for a rebuild of my 700R4 in the Trans Am.
