700r with no ecu
What do I need to do to make the 700r work properly without the ecu? My car came stock with the 700r and someone swapped in a turbo 350. They didnt do anything to the crossmember but they did cut all the wires. I am removing the ecu and wanting to put back in a 700r trans. what will I need for this? from what I have read all that it will take is a tv cable and a relay connected to the break lights to control the lock-up converter (TCC). and what wire's run the speedo? also is the linkage the same? Are the drive shafts the same?

Re: 700r with no ecu
I have no personal experience with a TH350, so I can't answer comparison ?'s
But the TH700R4 will require a properly adjusted TV cable, the correct geometry correctors for the TV cable attachment to the carb, TBI, or TPI system, a method of locking up the torque converter (the ECM does this), and a method of unlocking the torque converter.
There are several TC lockup kits available - most require installing new solenoids in the tranny, and utilize a vacuum switch to engage the TC lockup. B&M offers a system that doesn't require opening the tranny - it's electronic, uses existing solenoids in the tranny, and is based off speedometer input and preset rpms.
I have one of the kits that got installed in the tranny and uses the vacuum switch - but I wan't happy with the vacuum switch, and I took it out of the system - I simply use a toggle to manually engage my TC lockup at highway speeds.

Re: 700r with no ecu
I found http://www.700r4.com/tech/tcc/ but dont quite understand how they work off the break lights? It doesnt look like it would be hard to build one of these systems. I am trying to avoid buying anything to make this work lol.
