ls1 swap clutch travel problems
hey guys ive seen a bunch of info out there on the topic but cant really find anything that directly applies to my problem. i just got the motor and trans in on an ls1 swap out of a 99 camaro and im putting it in what was an auto 89 gta. i havnt got it running yet but i just installed the pedals and feel like i dont have enough travel to fully disengauge the clutch. i put the car on the ground and in gear and if i really mash the pedal into the floor i can get it to roll and i know later on im gonna have higher rpm probs with shifting. i was just wondering if anyone else has a problem with this and what they did or if theyre all just pretty close to the floor??
any helps appreciated, tryin to get her runnin b4 snnow:-)

Re: ls1 swap clutch travel problems
Bleeding the hyd clutch/slave on LS1 T56s is an ordeal. I'd recommend you use a Motive Power Bleeder if you can, it will save you tons of grief. Until you get every last air bubble from the line, you'll have a soft pedal. Even so, if you're use to the T5 or LT1-T56 style clutch feel, the LS1 pedal is so much softer. Assuming you used the same setup from the donor car, I doubt you'd need a shim behind your slave, but if you changed the flywheel/clutch/slave, you may need to measure to make sure..

Re: ls1 swap clutch travel problems
im not really having a soft pedal feeling, the rod coming out of the master is fully extended and the pedal is half way through its travel in order to hook onto the rod from the master. im more worried that im mechanically not going to have enough travel. have you seen anything like that?
thanks,
mike
