TURBO 400 and Gearvendors

Anyone install a turbo 400 with a Gearvendors unit in 3rd gen? Any sugestions before I get started? I hope I can keep my console and not cut up bottom of car too bad.

Re: TURBO 400 and Gearvendors

a 4L80E is easier. But either way, call Jegs and get their Jegs-brand torque arm. It fits well when putting a GV behind a 4L60E in a 4th gen.

Re: TURBO 400 and Gearvendors

Thanks for info. I currently have no torque arm, I have old school southside lift bars. they work decent. 1.40 best 60'. I would like to go back to torque arm in future.

You might like the adjustable version. Either way, the front end is still a bit farther rearward than a stock arm, so you get a bit more of that effect that those lift bars give you, compared to a stock torque arm.

Re: TURBO 400 and Gearvendors

so there is a mount available to connect it to the rear or the gearvendor once it installed behind the turbo 400? How long is this torque arm?

No, it doesn't attach to the GV, it has a bracket that's an excellent fit into the driveshaft tunnel, it's about a foot long so it really spreads the forces well, too.

Re: TURBO 400 and Gearvendors

Turbo 400 and gearvendor are installed. Fit great! Just got driveshaft back from denny's an now having a new tranny crossmember made. I did have to drill a hole in tunnel to run speedo cable inside to prevent binding. Can't wait to try it, but will be a while since it is salt covered on roads in Elkhart, IN.

Re: TURBO 400 and Gearvendors

Sorry I haven't posted pics of the gearvendor install yet. Car is back in my garage with k-member out. I want to post a good pic once I get motor back and get it raised on hoist. Just fyi though, I am not running a torque arm currently. I can assure you the gearvendors fit. I have old school southside lift bars currently. I think if you were going to run a torque arm, you would need to consider a short one like the jegster unit. Might be another month or so before I can get a clear pic taken. I will post it though.

Re: TURBO 400 and Gearvendors

I won't need to worry about a torque arm, because my car has a 4-link.

Re: TURBO 400 and Gearvendors

Here is the only pic I have so far. I took it while the car was still on a lift before we sent it out to get a crossmember made. I have a wooden block holding it up in the pic. Hope this gives you an idea.
