700R4 wires?
i'm helping my bud swap the 350/700 combo out of his wrecked thirdgen into a 68 pickup. i don't know what year the camaro is, i can find out if i need to.
the problem is we're trying to use the camaro stock shifter in his truck. not a big deal, i thought, but all i've ever done is th350. so i take his shifter out, and find not one, but TWO cables. the second one is attatched to the button on the shifter, and goes to the steering column, so i figured it was the NSS. i can leave this out, correct?
next one, when he pulled the tranny, he cut off the wiring harness. like i said before, all i've ever done is th350s, so i don't know what the hell these things do. one of them is a round connector with i believe 4 pins. the other is two pins. what do these do and can we bypass them?
and anything else you think will be a problem for me, let me know.

Car: 84 Z28

Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 9-bolt, 3.27
On the shifter, the second cable is the column interlock. It keeps the shifter button from being pressed when the ignition switch is in the "Lock" position.
As for the wires, the 2 wire connector is the vehicle speed sensor, and is important. The other if the converter clutch and the switches for third and fourth gear.
The Neutral safety switch is right on the shifter, on the right side with a plug coming off the front of it.
Hope that helps!

hell yeah, you're my new jesus..... i mean thanks.
as for the VSS, i'm not sure, but his tranny does have the old school cable speedo. would his tranny possibly have both speedo cable AND VSS? i always assumed you'd get one or the other.
according to the owner of said vehicle, the two-contact plug was unnattatched. rather, he says he doesn't remember removing it. the car was converted to carb from throttle body injection, so there's a few other things that weren't attatched also. could this be one of them?
and i've never dealt with a lockup converter. is this something we need to worry about, or is that internal?
thank you very much for the reply!
