Pilot bushing or bearing?

I ordered a pilot bearing for my T5 swap, and the parts store said that my car used a bushing, so I bought a bushing. The more I think about it, it seems that a bearing may have been better. Can I have some opinions as to which is preferred? Does it really even matter? This is a T5 behind a modified TPI 350 that will have somewhere above 300hp after I get the problems straightened out. Thanks.

A pilot bearing is better. As long as you ordered a bearing that was for a small block chevy it will work with your T5.I have a Moroso bearing in my Z.Does it really matter,it is nothing you will notice, maybe just smoother clutch engagement and piece of mind.A bearing is always better than a bushing.

I also have the Moroso Bearing Part#41100.

I've used these every time I've swapped the clutch in my 92 RS.They advertise smoother release, etc.
Honestly can't say I've noticed a difference, but it's not an expensive upgrade, so I've always run one.
I too, figure a bearing is always better than a bushing.Never had one fail.

The autoparts stores in my area never cease to amaze me. None of them list a pilot bearing, only bushings.

None of them can get moroso stuff either, and since I'm sort of in a hurry for it, I don't have time to order from Summit or some similar place. Does anybody have a part number that I can bring to Advance Autoparts, NAPA or Big A Autoparts for a pilot bearing?

somebody told me once that i should get a bearing also, but the bearing from a diesel GM, he said, i dont remember exactly wich one he said, but i bet the GM guys will know about, (something like a 350 or 400 diesel truck GM)
this is an old man who when he was young he used to prepare racers and all of them were Chevy's, at work we call him "mr. hot rod"

They have a roller bearing one for about $9.00
Part #14061685:
Needle Bearing Style. This heavy-duty needle roller bearing is used with Chevrolet 6.2-liter diesels. It can be installed in place of a bronze pilot bushing in all high performance Chevy V6 and V8s.
