TH350 vs. TH400
I'm replacing the 700R4 in my 89 Camaro and was going to go with a TH-350 (I'm not to concerned about gas mileage, I just want to go with a more bullet proof route). One of the guys that i work with told me the TH-400 is a stronger setup? I'm automatic transmission illiterate "as well as with other things", but could someone set the record straight for me please.
Thanks, Bruce

The TH400 is stronger than a TH350. It has bigger and stronger internal parts.
The TH400 is also heavier and takes about 15 more HP to turn than the TH350. The TH400 is longer and also uses a different driveshaft yoke. The TH400 has different gear ratios.
A properly built up TH350 can survive just as much as a TH400. My race car still uses a TH350. I've only blown up the intermidiate sprag once. I think I came out of the waterbox wrong when it happened.
You can run quicker ET's with a TH350

Thanks Stephen, BTW does the 400 have a higher or lower first gear ratio?
