t56 noise in thirdgen

If i push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor i hear what seems to be something rubbing on the flywheel or plessure plate. im thinking it is the throwout bearing or clutch fork. why is this doing this. there isnt anything wrond with the operation of the clutch but the noise makes me nervous. i am using the stock 3rd gen pedals that where in the car.

I'm having the same problem. I get a grinding noise whenever I press the clutch pedal to the floor. I too have a T56 in my *5 Camaro, using thirdgen pedals. It never made this noise before. It just started recently. It doesn't make any noise if only slighty depress the clutch. I only have to press the clutch to the floor to start the car, but for shift I only have to dperess it an inch or 2. Anyone esle having this problem. I know that pulling the tranny will help solve the problem, but I'd rather not if I don't have too.

Thanks,

Dave

i had the same thing happen to my car and its probably your throwout bearing. It will make a grinding noise when pressing down on the clutch and when accelerating.
tHey are less that 10 dollars to replace and pulling a tranny isnt too hard either.

I used the 4th gen pedals to avaoid that problem but it still happens. It is the fork hitting the PP. Make a stop for the clutch pedal so you can't push it down too far..maybe a piece of wood under the carpet or something. This is a common problem. I'm using a McLeod clutch BTW.

Wow, I posted this problem I was having a while ago. Since then I have found the problem. The grinding noise was getting worse as time went on and evenutally i got stuck. I couldnt even push the pedal in. I pulled the tranny and the fork was rubbing on the presure plate. This happend because the the fork wasnt fully engaged into the throw out bearing. The problem is fixed and I havent had a problem since. BTW, I had a MC loed clutch in it and now it is sitting on the garage floor The pressure plate is unuseable.

Thanks, I doubt its the t/o bearing, its new. I had the tranny installed on my LG4 before I did my engine swap and it never made any noise. I only noticed it the last time I went to start the new engine. I believe I have the Mcleod clutch as well. It looks like its an LT4 pressure plate. I guess when I get some free time I might just pull the tranny to make sure everything is alright. But i need to drive the car some to break in the engine. Ahhh I hate these stupid little problems. I'll probably just make a stop for the time being.
