tv adjustment after motor swap

i just finished installing a motor in my 85 z28. i went with a 1980 305 with some mods i had laying around i kept the 700 r4 that was in it. my question is the 1 2 3 shifts are good when it hits 4th the rpms drop dramaticaly and then slowly rises back up also i had to install a non computerized lock up kit and a new lokar tv cable and the throttle valve corrector plate cause i went to carb how would i go about setting the tv cable i have read the articles but i dunno if i have to do it diffrently cause i went to carb.

It sounds like you may have it setup to go into L/U at the same time it hits 4th. Just to be sure about your adjustment: To adjust the TV Cable skip the book method and do this: Press the D button on the adjuster and loosen the cable setting. Now, have someone floor the gas pedal while you check to see if the throttle plate is open all the way. Usually they are off a little and will wiggle. Do whatever you have to do to get it open solid. Now, with the pedal still floored, press the D button and pull the cable casing (the black tube) back as hard as you can and release the button. You now have the engine, tranny and gas pedal all in sync at WOT. Mark the cable so if for some reason it gets moved you can know where to put it again. The problem with the 'self adjust method' is that it bends things and puts them permanently out of whack. It is also the full TV setting, which is theoretically what the GM method does.

However it does it, it adjusts so just translate what I am saying (Throttle Body goes FULL, TV Cable goes to max tension, etc) and do the same thing.

Ok figured out how to adjust the aftermarket tv cable. (i think) i had someone step on the gas full throttle then i tightened the cable as hard as i could, now instead of shifting way to early and hitting 4th gear at 25 mph it shifts out of first at like 2500 rpm and does not hit 4th till like 60 mph is that right?

also the trans has a shift kit in it supposedly
