HP/TQ Vs. T-5 How much is too much?
Well, how much is too much on one of these T-5 tranny's? I'm running a stock '86 Z and want to upgrade the sh... heck out of it. Or would it just be better to save my duckets and go to a richmond 5/6 speed?

There is no magic number, it varies according to driver abuse, engine, and tires. It should last forever if you dont abuse it. If you race, plan on replacing it.

They usually hold up pretty good as long as
you don`t launch too hard on a slick, when the tires are spinning the tranny doesn`t
have to take the whole load. There are alot
of 11 and 12 second rustangs using stock
T-5`s.They don`t last forever but they are
stronger than most people think.

So it could stand up to 400-500+ HP and survive as long as I'm not dropping the clutch at 2 or 3 Grand. You see, I'm wanting to build bad, but I'm doing some research first to see what I'll have to build first. It'll take a lot of time but I've got BIG plans... just like everyone else I suppose

Car: 92 Camaro RS
Engine: 350 Crate Motor
Transmission: Tremec TKO
Axle/Gears: 10 Bolt 3.73
Banging second gear took mine out pretty quick, though I didn't dump the clutch often off the line.If you beat on it, even a stock 305 will destroy it...I've done it.Get a stronger trans if you plan on drag or road racing it.
