b&m is junk, it does nothing but a 1st gear bang shift. get a transgo. the transgo kit has the servo and valves to actually increase pressure, which increases holding power.

Ditto. B&M is junk. No accumulation and overly harsh part throttle shifts. The TransGo is much, much better. I've had both and there's no comparison.

ok so trans go... well ill have to look that up!! ive been told b&m is junk before so i just wanted some more opinions from other owners. thanks.

"Thee" place to get a Trans Go from. Very streetable. Good for daily driving with firm, quick, but not overly hard shifting when you're accelerating fast. At low throttle just moseying around town, it's darn near a stock shift.

I asked Dana what the difference between his HD and Street/Strip kits were. Basically the Street/Strip comes with more parts. The HD is good for towing, police cars, S10 trucks etc. While the Street/Strip is more for Camaros, Corvettes.

I went with the Street/Strip and absolutely love it.

I'll second that. I used the street/strip setting in my Blazer and love it. The truck is more of a street/strip vehicle than a towing vehicle. It sees offroad and some strip action which is more street/strip than HD. Dana is the man, and ProBuilt builds the best 700R4s around. I cannot say enough good things about the man or his products. He made me a believer in two things. One I can rebuild an automatic transmission (and I have successfully several times now). Two, the 700R4 has an undeserved reputation for weakness. Properly built the 700R4 is a great transmission and is better than the old school non-overdrive three speeds for street and street/strip use (unless you're looking to lay down more than 600HP).

well its a everyday driver and im just tryin to get the best out of everything. i have heard in the past that a shift kit can help gas mileage and is good on the trans... its not a hot rod and probly wont be for some time. thankyou all for the info and keep it coming ill be lookin at this for a while. i have 176xxx on the car now and it runs like new. i really want to keep it this way for as long as i can. someday im going to swap it to a t-5 but for now i just want to improve things. i have all the paper work for the car sense it was new and it has had every service at the time it was needed. if it wasnt my only car it would probly be a monster lol. i have been lookin for something else to drive but cant figure out what i want. id miss drivin it everyday... but i will look into the trans go stuff and go from there. thanks again.

With that Pro Built TransGo kit from Dana, you'll have no problem with it being a daily driver. You won't get tired of it simply because in average everyday driving, it's barely any different from stock.

Now when you want to get on it, it works good enough that you won't wish you had a manual. If you're manually rowing through the gears, it's instant. And pulling it into 3rd or 2nd gear will cause even firmer shifts than if you leave it in O/D and let it do everything on it's own. So it works like this:

O/D shifter position (normal driving around town)
3-4 a bit more feel than stock non TransGo.
2-3 slightly softer than 1-2
1-2 good

D shifter position
2-3 noticeable
1-2 firmer

2 shifter position
1-2 holy moly

Before I had the shift kit, it didn't matter if I was in O/D, D, or 2, it shifted the same.

The interesting thing is that if you pull it from O/D to 3rd, it shifts to 3rd right now. Pull it into 2nd. Right now. Pull it into 1st? Ahhh it's different. There will be a slight delay and then the car will wind up almost like slipping the clutch on a manual. Once the RPM's reach the higher RPM, it will shift into 1st. This protects the transmission from the shock of 1st gear downshift. Smart. I don't know if this comes in all TransGo kits or if it's just the ProBuilt TransGo. Once you get your kit from Pro Built and look at the directions that come with it, you'll see it's a whole different ball game compared to a regular TransGo.
