screwed up adjusting my TV cable, geez i must be stupid. HELP!!!

Ok, i thought i would adjust my TV cable, you know, for fun, well actualy just to see if there would be any difference. well i pushed in the "D" looking button, and unhooked the cable from the throttle thingy, and i pushed the D button and tried pushing the wire in the thing, you know towards the back of the car, that direction. well anyways, it wouldn't go in, so i forced about an inch inside, and it would come right back out, so i tried it again and released the button, and the cable came right back out. so i figured maybe it was screwed up, so i reattached it, and it did seem a little bit more tight. opened the throttle like ur supposed to, but no ratcheting. so i drive the car and the shift points are way off. for instance, i now shift into 3rd gear at about 30 MPH at 2500 RPMs barley touching the peddle, and i now shift into OD at like 44 MPH when i used to shift into OD at 34 MPH. so what did i do wrong, how can i fix it, plz help.

My car doesn't shift into OD until 45 mph, 34 mph seems too early too me. Check some past posts about the TV cable and adjusting it, you will find transfixleo's guide that is very simple to follow.

ok i checked all the archives, and nothign really helped too much, should my car be shifting into 3rd at 30 MPH? cause it would usualy shift into 1st at like 5 MPH with the car idleing down the steet, not its more like 12 MPH, and the shifts are alot more Rough, like it really jerks more then it used to. i know the line pressure is probably higher, but will this cause any damage to my tranny in the future?

To adjust the TV Cable skip the book method and do this: Press the D button on the adjuster and loosen the cable setting. Now, have someone floor the gas pedal while you check to see if the throttle plate is open all the way. Usually they are off a little and will wiggle. Do whatever you have to do to get it open solid. Now, with the pedal still floored, press the D button and pull the cable casing (the black tube) back as hard as you can and release the button. You now have the engine, tranny and gas pedal all in sync at WOT. Mark the cable so if for some reason it gets moved you can know where to put it again. The problem with the 'self adjust method' is that it bends things and puts them permanently out of whack. It is also the full TV setting, which is theoretically what the GM method does.
