There are shops out there that make upgraded internals for the T5, giving it a torque rating of 450 ft-lbs. But the cost is steep enough to consider a Tremec TKO500. If you use the '88-up World Class version, and drive it like your grandparents would, then a stock T5 should live.

If you don't drive like it you stole it, even a non-WC will be fine. Mine has held up without any difficulties behind my 350/330 (I am, however, a four-time grandfather). Sticky tires, dropping the clutch, etc. is a sure end. I've read that regardless of the upgraded internals, the case will still present a problem. Should very spirited driving be your habit, I'd suggest an after market.
