How to tell a v6 from a v8 T-5?
I have a t-5 tranny, bell housing, and flywheel. I don't know how to tell if it's from an 8cyl or a 6cyl, how do I know the difference? Thanks.

GM V6 T5s have a 1",14 spline input shaft. GM V8 T5s have a 1.125", 26-spline. Fords use a 1.0625", 10-spline. There are other T5s out there, in Jeeps and 300ZXs.

This guy has the 14 spline so it's out of a six. What I can't find in the faq is can the 6cyl trans be used behind the 8 or is it weaker? What would one have to do to get it in there?

It's possible, I have detailed what's required a few months ago to another guy, but it ends up costing more, and it is still weaker. You quickly get very sick and tired of babying or replacing transmissions.
